Richard L. Howard Jr. Founding Partner

Rich’s career in financial services began in 1997 as a Certified Public Accountant. He soon realized he could combine his love for helping others with his experience in accounting to develop strategies that enable families and businesses to reach their goals. This led him to pursue a career in wealth management, providing clients with the strategies that give them the peace of mind that a down market won’t derail their financial goals.

In 1999 he joined Merrill Lynch in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was promoted to vice president – investments and was a member of the Executive’s Club. Among his greatest impacts on the team were leading the training program for four years and chairing the United Way campaign.

Rich moved to UBS Financial Services in 2009. While there, he attained the title of senior vice president – wealth management and was named a senior portfolio manager in the UBS portfolio management program. He was highlighted in a national campaign to help advisors improve their client service and was a frequent speaker at UBS conferences and events. After working side by side with his friend Todd for 13 years, they decided to take advantage of their complementary talents and abilities and formed Scissortail Wealth Management in 2012 with the hopes of upgrading the client experience. Rich’s focus at Scissortail Wealth Management involves acting as the firm’s chief financial officer and focusing on the financial planning initiatives of the firm. In addition, he oversees accounting and human resources.

Rich has coached numerous youth sports teams and is a licensed soccer coach. He is a past board member of Riverfield Country Day School and the Tulsa chapter of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, where he served as president and was awarded the chapter’s Distinguished CPA award. He currently focuses his time as the board secretary for Aim High Academy, a faith-based gymnastics organization serving urban youth.

Rich was born in Philadelphia and moved to Oklahoma in fifth grade. He will always have Philly in his blood but calls Tulsa home. After all, Oklahoma is where he found true love with his wife, Jackie, and his favorite job being the father of his daughter, Alex, and his son, Reid. Rich attended Oklahoma State University as a Wentz Scholar and developed lifelong friendships as a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He thoroughly enjoys the outdoors, athletics of any kind, and all lake activities including boating, fishing, or talking around the fire pit.
